Why you should check out a temporary tattoo before applying it

Getting any kind of tattoo is a really big decision. You have to consider the implications of wearing a design on your skin that may be visible to the rest of the world.

Of course, having a permanent tattoo is an absolutely huge decision. This is a step that could change the way people see you for the rest of your life.

Having a temporary tattoo, which will be on your skin for only a few days, is less irreversible. But we do get it, this is still something you might be putting a lot of thought into – so here’s our checklist of the questions you should be asking yourself.

1/ Do you like the design? At TattooedNow! we supply top-quality designs, including for films and TV productions. Our tattoos are right at the high end of the market. Check out the designs we create and see if one – or more – is right for you.

In the end, this is a hugely personal choice. You are, in effect, making a statement about yourself to the world, so you have to be sure the design is right for you.

2/ Do you like the location? It is possible to apply a temporary tattoo pretty much anywhere on your body. But take time to check that you are happy with where you are going to put your tattoo. Your arm? Your torso? Your neck?

Visualise the tattoo being put in place and then see how you think you will look – and how happy you will be with it.

As a general rule, temporary tattoos shouldn’t be applied on broken or sensitive skin, or too close to your eyes or mouth. Be prepared to remove the tattoo quickly if you get any tingling or redness after it goes on.

3/ Do you like the colour? Traditionally, permanent tattoos were applied using black ink only, but it’s quite normal these days to bring your chosen design to life with a wide variety of colours.

Work out how the colour will work with your skin, your eye and hair colour (if you are thinking of a tattoo high on the body).

Of course, the idea of a temporary tattoo might be a trial run for something more permanent. The tattoos we supply last between two and seven days, depending on your skin type and other lifestyle factors.

If you have an idea for a tattoo and want to test-drive it, get in touch. You can find more details here.

Our temporary tattoos are water-resistant, so you can take a shower. But if you do a lot of vigorous exercise, sweat freely and your clothing rubs against the design, it might last a shorter amount of time.

Ultimately, there’s only one reason for checking out a temporary tattoo before you apply it. That’s to make sure you are going to be perfectly happy with the design and colour of your tattoo in the location on your body that you choose.

Once you are sure that you want to go ahead, please take a browse through our designs – we are certain you will find something here that you will like!
